The sun moves about fifteen degrees an hour; this is how you follow it from where you are sitting instead of picking up the chair every forty minutes.

The upright below the joint is telescopic with a twist collar, so you set the height to suit sitting on a low chair on a bank or standing at the water. The bottom of the pole is a pointed ground plug that pushes into soft ground, and three wind stakes come with it for pinning the rest down.

A thick coated canopy built for a full day out

The maker’s own construction drawing breaks it into eight layers: a high-density water-repellent face, a dyeing layer, a woven waterproof layer, reinforced black-glue coatings, an ultraviolet barrier layer and a thermal coating. The maker rates the finished fabric at UPF 50+. The black-glue coating is what makes the underside black: it stops light passing through the weave, so the shade stays properly dark under there.

Rain beads on the outer face and runs off the scalloped edge, so a shower slides off while you keep fishing.
